Te Wheke ~ The Eight Dimensions of Wellbeing
This artwork is an expression of my on-going journey with the Sacred Plant Medicine of Aotearoa, New Zealand. The series Te Wheke: The Eight Dimensions of Spiritual Wellbeing is inspired by my training through First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® and The Medicine Woman Centre for Shamanic Studies™.
Te Wheke: The Eight Dimensions of Spiritual Wellbeing is my interpretation of the eight orchid essences in the First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® range of native flower essences. The orchid essences are elixirs of spiritual light that hold the divine eightfold-energies of cosmic consciousness. This series is inspired by my experiences while undertaking The Medicine Woman Rite of the Six Moons©, a 28 week personal and planetary purification program which included working with very specialised families of New Zealand native teacher plant essences including the Orchids.
The eight orchids are also associated with Te Wheke, the eight dimensions of wellbeing as taught by Dr Rangimare Turuki Arikirangi Rose Pere. The eight dimensions of wellbeing include; 1.Taha Tinana: The Physical Dimension; 2. Ranga Whatumanawa: Relating to the Emotions and Senses; 3. Mana: Divine Right, Influence and Prestige; 4. Whanaungatanga: Kinship ties, Extended Family Across the Universe; 5. Wairuatanga: Spirit; 6. Mauri: Life Force; 7. Ha, Taonga tuku iho: Breath, Treasures that have come down; and 8. Hinengaro: The Female Who Is Known And Also Hidden, The Mind.
I would like to express deep gratitude to Franchelle Ofsoské-Wyber, Dr Rangimare Turuki Arikirangi Rose Pere and Tony Wyber, whose teachings have deeply influenced me and form the conceptual basis of my work. I would also like to thank the incredible Teacher Plants of Aotearoa that have enriched and empowered my life and inspired me to create this work.
The Twelve Rites of the Healer
This series is an expression of my journey with the Sacred Plant Medicine of Aotearoa, New Zealand. The Twelve Rites of the Healer is an on-going creative project associated with training I am currently undertaking as part of a three year Medicine Woman Apprenticeship. This initiatory process is facilitated through actively working with the twelve teacher plants that hold the keys to the opening of the portals of power for the healer and shaman in the 21st century. These artworks are my interpretations of three of the twelve magical rites of passage of the healer, which are the focus of the Certificate of Healer’s Studies.
